What a fantastic way to start the New Year with a fun tournament! Played in the American format, 16 players played 6 timed 20 minute rounds and collected individual points for each game won. There was a huge amount of laughter along with some great tennis and everyone either stayed put on their court if they won or moved up a court if they lost, changing partners in each round.
The top scoring lady Dawn Roberts with 33 points paired with the second highest scoring man, visitor Peter Storr with 30 points, and the second highest lady Sam Wardman with 29 points then paired with the highest scoring man Julian Little with a huge 37 points! In a very close final with some fabulous rallies Dawn and Peter pipped Sam and Julian to the post winning 6 games to 5.
Huge thanks to Tricia Smith for organising the tournament (and also playing) and to her friend Della Storr who very kindly took on the role of referee and time keeper. As an added bonus £85 was also raised for the court renewal fund (CRF).
