Three Penzance Juniors picked for 9U County Cup Match!

Well done to Archie Stirling, Freddie Millard and Amelia Botterell, who were picked by county coaches Tim Webster and Ryan Fern, to represent Cornwall as part of a six team squad in the 9U County Cup. Will Stirling reaches final 8 at Wimbledon!

Sadly it’s the end of the journey for Will Stirling in the “Road to Wimbledon” tournament. “Road to Wimbledon” is the biggest junior tournament in British tennis and gives all 14U players the opportunity to progress through to compete on the world famous grass courts at Wimbledon. Local clubs, parks and schools across the UK have staged a tournament for their members/pupils rated between 10.2 and 7.1. On Sunday 15th July Penzance Tennis Club Junior player Will Stirling won the “Road To Wimbledon” 14u County Finals at Perranporth Tennis Club, which meant he qualified for the National Finals to be played at Wimbledon between 11th and 18th August!  At Wimbledon Will won his first two under 14s singles matches and progressed to the last 24 out of 48 Counties. He played for a place in the last 12 in a highly competitive match losing 3-6 4-6. Will’s journey was not over at that stage as he qualified along with Devon player, Christopher Halse, to play in the doubles. They made it to the 14u Boys Doubles Quarter Finals on 16th August but lost the match 3-6 1-6. A huge well done to both for getting to the last 8! An amazing...
