Happy New Year and January News!

1. CHRISTMAS CARDS
Please pick up any remaining Christmas cards from the table in the foyer. We will leave the cards until Friday, 6th at 3pm (12th Night!) and any cards not collected by then will be destroyed. If you know that you will be unable to collect your cards please email the office on info@penzancetennisclub.co.uk and ask Birte to check if there are any cards for you. If so, we will keep the cards for you for your collection but unless we hear from you the cards will go in the bin on Friday afternoon.

2. CLUB SECURITY AND REAR DOOR ISSUES
We still have teething problems with the rear door so please bear with us for a little while until all is sorted.
Could we at the same time remind everyone to take reasonable responsibility for the club – this means locking doors when you leave, turning lights off, checking that furniture is put away and that the club is secure if you are the last one to leave. Please remind all your playing friends to check as well, in case you forget or are in a hurry. Our security staff have reported serious club security problems lately. Many thanks for your attention to this important matter.

3. FIRST SOCIAL EVENT FOR 2017
We are pleased to report that a few more social events will hopefully be happening this year. This includes a Bridge evening, Pilates and, of course, our first larger social event which is the

TORREY CANYON DISASTER TALK BY MARTIN BROCKMAN (RNLI) ON SATURDAY, 14th JANUARY AT 7.30pm IN THE CLUBHOUSE

Please put your names down on the list on the noticeboard or if you can’t make it to the club email the office so that your names can be added.

This talk is open to members, their friends, families etc. It is free of charge with a “bucket collection” afterwards. Members will be encouraged to bring a plate of food for us all to share.
At the moment we have hardly enough people on the list. Unless this situation improves we may have to cancel the event which would be a real shame. Please support this event – you won’t be disappointed!

4. OPEN TOURNAMENT SUB-COMMITTEE
We are still looking for 2 new members for our Senior Open Tournament Sub-Committee. This is a great opportunity for newer members to become involved in the club. We meet on Wednesdays (hardly at all in the autumn/winter but a little more often in spring time) in the club office for no more than 1 hour and we are a friendly, well organised bunch. So, if you are interested in joining us please contact the office or speak to Des or Birte Hosken.
