Fantastic day for the Great British Tennis Weekend!
Despite a couple of rain showers, the sun shone for the majority of the day on Saturday 12th May for the Great British Tennis Weekend. Penzance Tennis Club, as part of this UK wide LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) initiative, offered free tennis to all ages and abilities.
The day started with a large group of minis – aged 3-10 years, who had the chance to move around and try various different tennis activities and ball skills. This was followed by a session for juniors (11+). In the afternoon, Head Coach Ian Vidgen, ran a high energy cardio tennis workout session for the adults, followed by doubles tennis drills.
Throughout the day, the First Service Café was selling fabulous homemade food and volunteers manned a cake stall, tennis shop and raffle.
The day was a great success and gave people who had never picked up a tennis racket the opportunity to give it a go! Further details of group training sessions for children and adults, individual coaching and other activities including Cardio Tennis can be found at www.penzancetennisclub.co.uk or call on 01736 367627.
