Hat-trick for Holly at Club Championships
The club championships took place over the last two weeks with the finals taking place on Saturday 28th September and Thursday 3rd October. There were five events starting with a full day of play on Sunday 22nd September for the mixed doubles. This is always a popular event with a large entry and four groups played everyone in their table (7 games) and the winners of each group then played the semi finals. The rest of the events were played out throughout the week. Some play was hampered by heavy rain including the finals day which meant that the final event, the mixed doubles, had to be played on Thursday 3rd October. Despite more heavy rain on that day everyone played on despite getting soaked!
It was a great week and spectators were treated to some superb tennis throughout the tournament and despite the inclement weather on both finals days the tennis was thrilling to watch with some fantastic rallies.
Well done to everyone who took part with a particular well done to Holly Drew for her hat-trick!
Cladio Domizi beat Dave Forrest 6-1, 6-4
Holly Drew beat Zoe Body 6-2, 6-1

What a fantastic week for our 70th Open Tournament! Despite rain early in the week our fantastic referee Steve Wynn kept the matches going so we didn’t fall behind. There was superb tennis throughout the week from all our entrants including our youngest entrants aged 15 to our oldest entrant, Mario at 83!
Thanks to those players who visited us from Essex, Kent, Oxford, Southampton, London and Derbyshire! Some have been visiting us for over 20 years and have become old friends!
Thanks to Des Hosken and his tournament committee for organising a fabulous week of great tennis, fantastic entertainment and of course amazing food from Mel, Sylvia and the team.
