Bryok cooks up a feast!

Back in March, Penzance Tennis Club’s first Auction Night was a major success, raising the incredible sum of £2,307 towards the Court Renewal Fund!

The gold star of that evening had to go to Bryok for his promise to cook a dinner party meal for 6 lucky people, and this lot achieved a truly amazing £250, the top bid of the night.

As Bryok is so busy during the holiday season, the lucky bidders, Jon and Lynn waited until December for a suitable evening, and Bryok also very kindly agreed to increase numbers to 10 rather than the promised 6.

As one of these lucky 10, I’m delighted to report that the food we all enjoyed was absolutely superb, and Bryok worked so hard to produce such a memorable meal. He even managed to persuade his friend, Nathan to come along and help him with the preparation and serve the food …we all need friends like that!

Before the meal, we had a delightful little ‘amuse bouche’, consisting of arancini, plus tiny home-made crackers topped with goats’ cheese and something wonderful.  Then we went into the dining room for a starter of duck wrapped in filo pastry triangles served with an Asian salad – and that soon disappeared!

The main course was hake, cooked to perfection, served with the smoothest mashed potatoes, kale and spinach, plus a crab bisque that had a depth of flavour that surpassed anything I have ever tasted. Silence fell across the room as we all savoured this to the full.

Then came the dessert – not just one, but three! Creme Brulee, a tiny Lemon Tart and a Chocolate Cremeau, served with glazed hazelnuts. Truly scrumptious, and not a scrap of anything was left on any plate (even by those who had claimed they could not eat another morsel after that wonderful main course!).

I doubt I will ever eat another meal more enjoyable than that – if Michelin awarded 5 stars, this feast deserved 6!

Penzance Tennis Club is so lucky to have Bryok as a member, and for him to offer his time, energy and expertise to help raise funds for the Court Renewal Fund was so incredibly generous. Our sincere thanks go to Bryok and Nathan for a truly memorable evening.
