Will Stirling won the Taunton Grade 3 Regional u14s singles final against Alex Blisset from Somerset and was runner up in the final of the doubles with his partner Finlay Robertson from Somerset.

He did amazingly well against a very strong field and every match was of high quality. Will progressed through his first match 6/2 6/4 against Oliver Sasha Honey from Somerset. Having got into the quarter finals he found himself being out powered and 0/4 down in the first set by ‘leftie’ Billy Hughes from Wiltshire before turning the game around and winning 7/5 6/3.

Next, in the semi finals, Will came up against the number 1 seed, a National player, Callum Matthew from Dorset losing the first set 1/6. He turned it round in the second to win 6/4 and then came through 13/11 in a nail biting third set tie break.

In an entertaining final against another National player, Alex Blisset from Somerset Will took control in in first set winning 6/3, then lost the second set 2/6 and ended up winning another nail biting third set tie break 10/7 to win overall.

Keeping it in the family, Archie Stirling (will’s brother) and Freddie Millard were runners up at the Grade 3 u10s Boys Doubles event. Great effort against a strong field!

Well done Will, Archie and Freddie, you are a credit to the club!
