24 hour “tennisathon” in memory of Rob Atkinson

24 hour “tennisathon” in memory of Rob Atkinson

Sadly last year, on Wednesday 11th July one of the Dads from our Saturday morning tennis group passed away suddenly from a heart attack, aged just 50. Rob Atkinson was a true family man and left behind his beloved wife and 3 beautiful young boys, aged 9 and twins aged 7. To celebrate his life, and as a mark of respect, on the 19th July we will be embarking on a mammoth 24 hour relay tennisathon at Penzance Tennis Club.

We still have a few slots available to play. Members or non members who would like to take part are welcome! Currently there is 1 space at 2-3pm and 3 spaces 3-4pm on the Friday. If anyone else fancies a middle of the night slot please join Sarah Cross who is currently playing alone at 3am! Please see the notice board for details or otherwise call the club during opening hours on 01736 367627.

We will also have a BBQ and entertainment on Friday evening:

* Free entry, BBQ and Bar open

* 6pm Flautistas – Penzance based flute choir

* 6.30pm Twin Harmony – The voices of twin sisters Jenna and Morwenna blend to create an utterly enchanting harmony

* 7.30pm Caine – a five piece Indie Rock Band from Angarrack as seen on the BBC Introducing stage at The Great Estate!

* Donations to The British Heart Foundation (The money raised via this page will go towards research at the British  Heart Foundation “Beat Heartbreak Forever”) – https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/sarah-cross28

On 19th play starts at 10am and playing through until 10pm that night when players will go up the road to Polwithen House to play overnight by lamp light! At 6am they will return to the tennis club where the final players on court will be Rob’s wife Jo and her boys.
